Terms of Service

Effective September 28, 2026

These are the rules for using Dibs (icalldibs.co), a free web app run by Noah Kleckner and Matt Stacy in Raleigh, North Carolina (“Dibs,” “we”). By using Dibs you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Dibs. Questions: support@icalldibs.co.

Who can use Dibs

You must be at least 13 years old. If you create an account, you are responsible for what happens under it and for keeping your password to yourself. One person, one account.

What Dibs is, and isn’t

Dibs helps a group pick a restaurant: it searches real nearby places, suggests a few, and lets everyone vote. It is a decision tool, not a guarantee.

• Restaurant details can be wrong. Names, addresses, hours, prices, photos and ratings come from Google and other sources and can be out of date. A place we show as open may be closed. Check before you go.
• Dietary needs are not verified. When you tell Dibs a group needs vegetarian, vegan, halal, kosher, gluten-free or other options, we search for places that mention them. We cannot confirm what any restaurant actually serves or how it is prepared. If someone has an allergy or a medical or religious dietary requirement, confirm with the restaurant directly. Dibs is not responsible for a restaurant’s food, ingredients, or service.
• Suggestions are suggestions. Which four spots appear, and in what order, is produced by software (including an AI model) working from your filters. It is not a review, an endorsement, or advice.

Your content

You own what you post: ratings, captions, photos and comments. So that Dibs can work, you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, display and distribute your content within Dibs according to the visibility you chose for it, for as long as it is on Dibs. Delete a post, or your account, and that license ends for that content, except for copies we are legally required to keep or that others have already shared outside Dibs.

By posting, you confirm the content is yours or you have the right to share it, and that any people in your photos are okay with it being shared.

The rules

Don’t use Dibs to:

• Harass, threaten, or impersonate anyone, or post hateful, sexually explicit, or illegal content.
• Post fake reviews, reviews of places you haven't visited, or reviews you were paid for without saying so.
• Post anyone's private information, or photos of people who would not want them shared.
• Spam, scrape, overload, or attack the service, or try to access data or accounts that aren't yours.
• Break any law.

You can report a post or a user, and block anyone, from inside the app. We may remove content or suspend or delete accounts that break these rules, at our discretion and without notice if we think it is necessary. We don’t review everything that is posted, and we are not responsible for other users’ content.

Google Maps Platform

Dibs uses Google Maps Platform, including Google Places, to find and describe restaurants. By using Dibs you also agree to be bound by the Google Terms of Service and acknowledge the Google Privacy Policy.

Privacy

How we handle your data is in our Privacy Policy, which is part of these terms.

Ending things

You can stop using Dibs at any time, and delete your account from the You tab. We can suspend or end your access if you break these terms or if we shut down or change the service. We’ll try to give reasonable notice of changes that matter, but Dibs is free and offered as is, so we can’t promise it will always be available or unchanged.

No warranties, and limits on our liability

Dibs is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including that it will be accurate, reliable, uninterrupted, or fit for a particular purpose. To the fullest extent the law allows, Dibs and its founders are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from your use of Dibs, a restaurant it suggested, or content another user posted. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the past twelve months (which, for a free service, is zero) and one hundred US dollars. Some places do not allow some of these limits, so some may not apply to you.

You agree to cover us for claims that arise from content you post or from your breaking these terms.

Copyright

The Dibs name, logo, design and software are ours. Restaurant data belongs to its providers. Your content belongs to you. If you believe something on Dibs infringes your copyright, email support@icalldibs.co with the link and what you own, and we will take it down or get back to you.

The legal bits

These terms are governed by the laws of North Carolina, USA, without regard to its conflict of law rules, and any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Wake County, North Carolina. If part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest still applies. These terms, with the Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between you and Dibs about the service.

Changes

We may update these terms. We’ll change the effective date above, and for significant changes we’ll tell signed-in users in the app. Using Dibs after a change means you accept the new terms.
